What we collect

When you request access to the Student Portal, we keep your name, email address, phone number and any message you provide. Greg uses your phone number to contact you, and the site emails you alerts about your account, such as approvals and new messages. Those emails are sent through our email provider, Resend. If you use Google or Microsoft to sign in, they share your name, email address and account ID with us. We also keep the calendar requests, payment reports and messages you send, and the training notes your instructor writes about your flying. If you're a student, we also keep the medical certificate and expiration date you add and any other documents you upload for Greg, including renter's insurance, which Greg may share with the aircraft owner or rental company you fly with. Flight reminders and date alerts are sent by email the same way as other alerts.

When you request to book Greg as a pilot, we keep your name, company, email address, phone number, the trip and aircraft details, and any message you provide. You don't need an account for this.

How it's used

Your information is used only to run your student account, schedule flights, keep track of payments, answer pilot booking requests and contact you. We don't sell it. Greg and the site's administrators can see it, including your messages, in order to approve accounts, manage the calendar and answer you. Students can't see anything about pilot bookings; to them, those times only show as unavailable. Your medical certificate and expiration date are the exception: on this site, only you and Greg can see them.

What other students and instructors can see

The Student Portal is a shared community. Once you're approved, other students and instructors who are signed in can see your name and any profile photo you add, your name on the calendar for your approved lessons, and anything you post on the Discussion Board. They can also see your phone number and email address on your contact card, unless you turn that off on the Contacts page. They also see a marker on your card showing whether your medical and renter's insurance are on file or expired, and which pilot certificates you've added. Your booking notes, training notes, medical certificate and date, uploaded documents and payments stay private. Direct and group messages can only be seen by the people in that conversation.

Payments

Payments are sent with Zelle through your own bank. This site never asks for or stores your card or bank details. It only keeps the payment details you choose to report, such as the amount and date.

Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and nothing for advertising or tracking.

How long we keep it

When a student leaves, Greg archives their account. They can no longer sign in, and their records stay saved. We also keep private nightly backups of the site's records for about 35 days.
